Zombie Apocalypse

By Alchemist

Champagne moon shine thrown like darts
Burgundy berries ripen decay riddled hearts
Zombies swoon over wretched flesh to feast
As rotten guts dangle from a plague of beasts

Muscles mounted with nails filled of bloody dirt
Houses humbled by meat and bone that hurt
They drag their limbs with the stench of death
Locks on doors behind a gun you take a breath

A slow stride for a frantic teeth chattering urge
Past life memories no longer need to be purged
Hunger calling out for "BrAiNs" like a Grindcore song
Their putrid bodies with no souls left in skin to belong

Eyes as sunken as ships in Bermuda graveyards
A final destination for those with lack of guard
And it's as bleak as a raven's speech in the black of night
Now the dead roam dark shadows and life giving sunlight

It's an Apocalypse but not the end of days
The nights of-course have their scarier ways
Stumbling cannibals meander in mindless rancid waves
The monsters won't leave a stone for humanities grave

You are awesome, this was the first zombie poem I've read (hard to believe, I know), zombies just aren't my 'thing'. This was a lot of fun though, really enjoyed the ride - XXOO Scholar

Perfect zombie write! I love the rythym to it, as well as the imagery. Excellent!

I liked the ick, in your dark poem today, and I don't know why but I enjoyed it. Besides, I was thinkin' you might want to read 1000 ways to kill a zombie, but then again I am quite sure that champagne moonshine would kill a goat anyhow :) LOL

I was talking about champagne being the color of a moon's shine but I guess champagne moonshine would fuck you up pretty good, lol. Thanks Cindy.

What happens when there are only zombies I wonder? ANd how long does a zombie live if he eats healthy and works out? All questions inquiring minds want to know. Cheers Shawn and thanks.
