lay me down

By FadedBlues

the truth is out there somewhere, i suppose
the mysteries, the riddles all have answers...maybe
i've walked around the world more than once
i've searched for it with that old greek's lantern (it didn't help)
i came away with shoes in rags & rusted faith
alluvials behind me & before me

& love  what is love  it hits you like a wrecking ball
it knocks you down  dances on your face
it eats your heart your spirit like a piranha
& then it's gone   it's gone   just that bitter taste
like yesterday's coffee

& you're glad  you're free  you're 'happy'
but you want it  you still want it
(i hear them out there in the fog  i hear them begging)

& that road that hi-way it goes on & on
it don't end it never ends
except in the grave & maybe not even there  who knows

& i've cried  i've cried again til i know
those ducts are as dry as the mojave'
& then i cry again

i'm tired  can't you see that  i'm just tired
i can't go on no more          i can't...

slap together a whiskey bullet & fuck me with poetry

Nicely penned. Life sucks sometimes. But what can you do? right. Things get better. Roll with it.
