Fate

By Polaris

Your selfish ways to keep me here
Let me go and wipe your tears
Forces pounding I feel free
It's not about you or me

My emotions of each day
Guilt and utter shame
I prematurely took her life
My fate must be the same

Apologies won't bring her back
Nor fill the void I made
Her family's hearts torn apart
Their memories wither and fade

I've been told it's not my fault
I took those words with a grain of salt
It's judgement day and I'm on deck
My debt repaid with my neck

Though I tried to change my mind
I realized wounds only heal with time
But it's too late to turn around
It's over now I hit the ground
