The One's Who Suffer

By Polaris

It's always been in time's of war
Powerful ego's send the young to die
But when the fields are clear and dried
Who are the ones who suffer?

She felt him growing everyday
She kissed his wounds when he fell at play
She watched him leave that final day
Mother's are the one's who suffer

He taught him truth and honor alike
To always fight with all his might
He watched him fade from his sight
Father's are the one's who suffer

Where ever he went she was there
He pushed her away but she knew he cared
With him gone she felt alone and scared
Sister's are the one's who suffer

Weekend's with beer and friends
He wished those night's would never end
He lost a mentor and best friend
Brother's are the one's who suffer

Now it's over time to reflect
Profit's gained and power won
They wouldn't dare send their son
The people are the one's who suffer

...well done in portraying each of the lost soldier's family members...the final stanza closes it forcefully...
