How It Feels to Drown.

By Quietus

Chained to the bottom of the ocean,
      Panic sifting through my brain
      The last amount of oxygen,
      That will eventually drain.

I’m enveloped in blue
And as I close my eyes,
I find it almost peaceful
With no one to tell me lies.

I accept that if I were to die here,
That’d almost be okay
But I guess it doesn’t matter,
It’s not like I have a say.

Finally my lips open,
Gasping desperately for air
Only to swallow water,
The only thing that was ever there.

The salty water fills my mouth

Making my tongue sore,

The water gushes down my throat

Until I breathe no more.

The only thing that really terrifies me is the Ocean. It's a work like this that gives some insight as to why... Gah! I hate water! Great poem, makes me want to stay on dry land!

The ocean scares me somewhat, since it's really big, but I do love the feeling of being under water almost too long and coming back to surface dizzy :) A bad habit of mine while swimming, haha!

Hi Q - you left out the part about the aching and uncontrollable spasms when the water hits your lungs. This was very original and thanks for the view.

Hey, thanks! :) I tried, considering it was 4 in the morning when I had a sudden urge to write about drowning. Didn't even remember I wrote it until now!

Drowning seems like a peaceful way to die for me. Especially when you consider the many other, brutal ways to die. Thank you for reading! :)
