b

By Demyelinated

30 miles of ice and darkness

colder inside than out

freezing beyond hope

praying beyond belief

19 steps of darkness and silence

colder inside than out

thinking beyond reason

believing beyond hope

15 minutes of silence and numbness

colder inside than out

shaking beyond control

hoping beyond reason

and now I'm cold
I never remember it being
like this

12 years of numbness and ice

colder inside than out

shaking beyond freezing

reasoning beyond control

Thanks for the kind words everyone. It's good to feel the support. I have kept my poems pretty hidden throughout my life. And yes, the numbers are accurate descriptions of the distance from where my wife and I were driving from one night, the distance from my door to the chair, etc. but they are also in reference to beta wave thresholds as it relates to awareness states. Also beta comes from ancient alphabets that pronounced "b" as "Beth", my wife's name.

19 steps of darkness and silence... how fascinating. I love this...

A challenging read with a chilling flavor through time, and getting colder as we get older, thanks.
