Muse Of Torment

By FadedBlues

This 'thing' within my captive soul
Strives toward some heaven or hellish goal.
It forges thoughts inside my brain;
Some enlightening, and some insane.

My mind, my heart are not my own;
This force seeks life for it alone.
My blood its wine, my bones its bread,
It lives and feeds inside my head.

It tortures me both day and night,
Creates the words that I must write.
A marionette, I feel its curse:
It wills the hand that writes this verse.

I, half machine and less a man,
Hold no peace now nor ever can.
I write its word and voice its cry,
And when it dies, I too shall die...

    I genuinely enjoyed reading this because its got structure in many forms and it flows coherently, however, my only critical remark is on the grammar/typos. You ought to proofread it and save it againo so future readers will be just as impressed as I was save for the minor grammatical smudges. Over all quite a delightful piece.

    Exactly how my muse controls me .It writes when and how it wants to.Never consults on what is to be said.It's arrogant to the max,quite rude and tempermental without excuse.

    Writing like a man possessed, eh? There are worse things; you could be carving snowflakes out of ice to indulge this muse. I'm personally thinking we all sort of lucked out having you share it here.

    the flow was easy and smooth for such weighted thoughts and emotions... touching on feelings i think many can relate to... causes one to contemplate their own demons... very well done and welcome to dp
