Thank you for the lost innocence

By terris crimson

thank you for breaking me,
for making me feel worthless,
For taking my innocence,
for ripping my life away,
for stealing a life that wasn't yours to take,
and one in turn deserves another,
how many have you hurt,
how many girls have you taken and destroyed,
now look at what you have done,
I am left broken, bleeding, and crawling,
I take my blade and try to carve out the memories now,
the only tears being shed for what you did are crimson,
rolling down from my wrist to the floor,
the puddle is glorious,
you tore away a precious gift,
one that was ment to be given to whom you love the most,
but you ripped it from me,
my childhood ended that very moment that you had made up your mind,
how can anyone think they have the right, the power to take that from a small innocent child,
my purity defiled,
my innocent mind turning thoughts vile,
by looking into someones eyes you can see what they've been through,
my big blue eyes once filled with childish innocence,
now turned into mirrors reflecting the haunted images held inside,
now I am a shell,
and intity of what I once was,
can I ever forgive you for what you have done,
only time will tell,
I held pain inside and now I bleed it out,
it never ends,
another memory another cut,
dying is a luxurious thought,
look at what you have done to me,
what you've turned me into,
you perverted my soul,
and twisted my heart into tiny little shards,
all of that is over now,
so thank you for all that I am,
but that's okay,
because if it weren't for your damage,
I wouldn't be with someone perfect now,
he took my heart and glued and stitched it back together,
so fuck you I'm done hurting and dwelling on all of your memories,
because you're not worth it.

Too many have suffered the fate of taking that involves giving only suffering. Too few find any release, and by the poem I can't tell if the perfect someone is death or if someone who has taught you to love again. I hope for the someone, not the death. You didn't deserve that.

  • A former member wrote: I know your pain. My birth father molested me as a child. This poem truly captures the pain that we suffer after we are hurt by those who were meant to protect us. I like the cutting referances. I guess the differance between you and me is you feel the need to cut yourself, and I felt the need to cut others. I love your ending though its true that experiances like that make us who we are, and out of something horrible you have emerged beautiful, and talented. You my friend are Victorious!

terris, a very good read. so much emotion and i hear hurting throughout. hopefully you felt a release during or after writing this roller coaster. the best poetry comes from the heart, and this has plenty. thanks for sharing.
