Letter To My Younger Self

By SweetEvilness93

Dear younger self,
It is me,
The you from the future,
That you will come to be,
I hate to disappoint,
But I have some news for you,
You may not believe it now,
But soon you will find it to be true,
Right now you think times are rough,
They get tougher though,
So you'd better buckle up,
Life is a bumpy road,
You stress things too much right now,
Take it easy,
You'll make it through,
Just trust me,

Don't stare in the mirror each day,
Hating your body for its flaws,
You are very beautiful,
In your own way,
Even if you think you can't see it at all,

The little crushes you get now,
Are nothing like real love,
Realy love hurts,
Very badly,
I know because I've fallen into it,
I'm sad to report,
That your first love doesn't last,
Your second will be better,
He's the one I love now,
I'm not saying love is easy,
It takes a lot of work,
But you get so much out of it,
More than you'd think,
Just remember,
That you should think before you speak,
Words hurt and destroy,
And just maybe somethings are left better unsaid,

Family is another thing,
That you must know about,
Treat them with respect,
You're really going to need them now,
Spend even more time with them,
They won't be around forever,
And once they're gone,
You'll never get them back,

Friends will come and go,
Walk in and out of your life,
Even your closest friends,
Will eventually disappear,
Out of your sight,

Don't try to grow up too fast,
You're a child now,
So go have fun,
Just don't do anything you might regret,
After the day is done,
Time does pass quickly,
Someday you'll look back,
And wonder where it went,
You can't rewind it,
So enjoy every second of it that you can,
Make it worth remembering,
Something to tell your future children,
I know now you don't think,
That you'll have children of your own,
But you do,
Or at least you have one,
Shocking,
I know,

Well,
That's all I'm going to say,
I'm afriad you'll need to find out,
The rest of life's surprises along the way,
Keep your head up,
And stay strong,
Don't miss me,
I won't be gone long,
The future is closer than it seems,
Until then,
Love always,
Me,

It's so easy to relate to this piece. Everyone has wished they could go back in time and do something, or not do anything at all. And even though this piece is from the "future you" to your present self, it sounds like you are admitting your past mistakes and moving on, because nothing can be done to fix them.

Impressive! It would be good if we really could do that, one thing I always here people say is: "I wish I was younger and know what I know now". You should see my work "Metamorphose", you will relate to.
