Father

By The Lioness Rampant

I lay here dieing at your feet
You scoop me up and dust off the grime of dispair from my face
You carry me to where I should be
Back home to where I belong

You cherish me as I cherish you
Ten years seems so short
You saw me and wanted me out of a book
You rescued me from that wretched place

You calloused hands are so gentle
You pick me up from every failure
You keep me safe when I'm alone
You bring me back from the black obyss

You have always been there for me
I hate it when I make you mad
I do stupid things but you never judge me
Keeping me laughing with silly antics

I never want to lose you
But I fear you don't have long
I would be forever lost without you
I could never stand on my own two feet

Being a daddy's girl comes with responsibility
I make sure you take your pills when you need to
I kiss you on your forehead before I go to sleep
I give you a great big hug when I'm about to cry

And I used to hate you
It's funny how things change
But I will always be the same twelve year old you brought home
You taught me the history of rock and roll

You taught me how real music sounded
I listen to the same old cds that you have
But Astro- Creep was our favorite cd
We played it on the trip to Texas to get mom's bird

I will always remember the way you laugh
And always remember how you taught me to be myself
Always taught me that crying is ok
You taught me about pain and what it's like to hurt

Your leg is always sore and it swells and turns purple
But I will always be there for you no matter what
Once I have completed what tasks lay ahead
I will be there as you stand proud of what I have accomplished

Father, if you ever see this I want you to know that I will always remember all your rhyms and lymerics because it made me laugh and whenever you don't know where to turn you will always have me here to wish I could take the pain away.

-Love Always-
Alexis

thanks i wrote this because my father has always been my savior and life line after every break-up he picks me up dusts me off and brings my confidence back up to where it should be i love him to death hes not doing so well right now im just praying to get his leg doesnt get worse and right now his elbow has an infection in it he needs to get it drained but hes sooo damned stubborn i told him that he really need to think about going to the hospitols for his leg and i was getting all choked up whilst writing this bc he has been there as my shield from all the pain and suffering ive gone through
