The blood in my veins
Flows like sand
Making my skin crawl
I want to tare at my flesh
Set the part of me that longs for you
free
But my hearts not breaking
I'm holding it together
Fighting so hard
Knocking the air out of my lungs
Breathless
Still beating
I will not cry for you
No more than
a passer by
Who held me for a moment
Scratched your
nails down the blackboard of my dreams
Made the rocks I built my life
on turn to dust
But I won't drown for you
I must swim harder
To find that island in the distance
I won't fall at your feet
Or scream your name in agony
I will simply mourn your loss
like the setting of the sun
with silent defiance at days end
