Spooning Mermaids
By carlosjackal
She swore belief
In spooning mermaids
Caressing scales
Like piano keys
From cold to warmth
She dreams
in their hair
Follicle nights
Saves her from despair
Floating
On seas
On beams
In clouds
Of condensation
But most of all
She floats
On the touch of
Warm hair and cold scales
And the clasp
Of those beautiful
hands
Over hers

I have always been intrigued by mermaids and their lore. I think that you really explored that topic well in this piece. A belated congratulations on Poem Of The Day! Queen Reb:).

Very nice imagery, nice rhythm, perhaps one improvement: keep the same 4/5/4/5 in the final verse as the first two

A mythical journey through a poet's mindscape. Best mermaid metaphor I've read.

Shades of Sappho possibly but stimulating on other fronts as well, unique and well done.
