Walk With Me

By dark_sister

Another phone call.
It pushed me over the edge of anger,
and into that cold, towering place
where I am a giant of determined fury.
All four chambers of my heart
are thrown open wide.
I can walk from love to hate with ease.
I cursed him and disconnected.
Then I turned and smiled at the boy
waiting patiently at my side.
I made the trek with one stride.
Like I've found a pair of seven league boots.
Like I can walk from ocean to ocean
within one breath, one forceful breath.
"Quickly, darling," I drawled,
"before he comes and finds us here."
We slipped out of the house like thieves,
and I drank in danger, power, a desperate wine,
from the vibrating air around me.
I'm a wicked witch and getting wickeder all the time.
I can see into the future and it's getting clearer every day.
I've shed fear like skin.
Walk with me.
