The Voices

By goingnowhere

As the fog came closer

I thought

Is it the pain

Is it the pain of that cold blade sliding across my bare flesh

No, they said

The voices in my head

No it’s the loneliness

That makes me feel this way

Although the blade does contribute to it

It’s colder now

The fog has surrounded me

The pain hasn’t ceased

No, it never will

My blood slides slowly over my arms

Is this the end

Is it finally going to be over

NO, they scream

A chorus of demonic voices

It will never be over

It can’t end that easily

The fog is thicker now

I can see the faces of the dead

Those who have died here before me

They are signing my name

It grows ever so loudly

The light suddenly

My love is among them

He calls to me

Calling me to join him

They scream at me

Keeping me on the edge

The edge of what though

Life

Death

I don’t understand

Forever they have told me to cut

Now they scream for me to live

Confusion is as thick as the fog

So confused

                                                             I’m so confused

The swirling voices inside one's mind, are as you described. A fog which envelops you, becoming a place where confusion is law. Nicely put, write on. Scholar
