In the end

By Leith Plunkett

We are all just animals

huddling in the darkness

yearning

pining

for some piece of warmth

seeking comfort

like moths to a flame

always wanting

helpless

shivering

the last of our warmth

passing from our lips

as we grow frail

dressing the earth

with our cold bones
