Let us walk through the crowded alleys
Where the clowns cry and sip their blood
From golden goblets
Where the children splice their tongues
Into confused lashes of twine
Where the dogs bury our princes
Under bits of discarded plastic

Let us eat our meals under church pews
Where we wipe our mouths on Genesis,
The creation of insanity
Where ivory towers are built on broken asphalt
And shards of glass
Where love is sold two for a dollar in a plain brown wrapper
Please dispose of properly.

In the end we cried
And the smoldering skeletons in the sun
Seemed to smile peacefully .
