The Sky is Broken

By Stranger

Her eyes turning to the heavens
These words falling from her mouth:

“All of the stars are forgotten lovers
          and the sky is broken
Come closer, come closer

Take me into your heart,
as I take you into my arms
Come closer, come closer

My skin pressing yours, your heat and your sweat,
          almost feeling, almost knowing, you
Come closer, come closer

Your name is my name, and my beauty is yours
the earth trembles, there is danger, wait
Now closer, yes closer”

That is, exactly, what I heard
Though it is not, at all, what she said

Ironic. I enjoyed this because of the word choice and ending. Thank you for sharing and congrats on poem of the day. :)

I am absolutely enchanted by this. The darkness and the beauty in one....

So you're alive too! :) This was a lovely treat tonight. Something about the way you write, whatever you write . . . of all the things I've changed my mind about over the years, your poetry is an unchanging source of pleasure. It's almost a litmus test of how human I remain - will it still move me? - and lo, I'm still human. Thanks for that :)
