Unsaddled Love

By LostInTime

She speaks of a time when she was new
A time when body was only flesh.
She teases the sun out of the morning
And casts it into the evening sky.
She laughs as she watches them carve her in stone
Then plants a flower in the dying garden
She challenges the ocean
To drown her tears
Or the stars to eclipse her glory.
She was proud
When the horse rode her into forests of flesh.
She was noble
When the stallion plunged into caverns of breath.
She became a slave to the wanderings of the stallion
Pulling his reins into her.
But soon,
Forests of flesh became stagnant marshes
And the stallions chose to wander in greener pastures.
All she has left is the remembered brightness of the night
And the new darkness of the day.
