There is an emptiness
within
that I cannot relate
to you or the rest
of the world
at large
or smallness imperceivable
like lightning striking
and missing
terror reigns
frightened eyes like caught rabbits
horrified
human imperfection
desolate within this
body of mine
alone
without a man made god
or a sterile Miss America.

but you
seperate being
another space and time
that exists
like an absolute
no one can touch
what right have I
to arrest you with love
or eyes filled with longing
intruding
with no space to occupy
you are life
love
unattainable
magic
a holiness
human to
me
the outsider.

Anguish can cripple.
Love can rectify.

Is this a rare piece of poetry from your Dad or didi he write a fair bit but this is one of the few surviving pieces? Either way, talented stuff :)

Oh geez...he's got binders full of stuff from spanning decades. As far as I know, he hasn't written anything in twenty years. But the binders survive.

Has your Dad thought of self-publishing what's in the binders? Even if only to own a copy that can be handed down, it'd be well worth it. It might even reawaken his creative spirit for poetry.
