Tiger's Stripe

By Scarrzz

Dry grass swaying, calmly swaying
Underneath the robin's nest
Sun is shining, burning brightly
Heat of summer, clouds unblessed

Thick savannah, unmown grasses
Ginger fur in hay unseen
Dreaming as the noontime passes
Sleepy eyes of emerald green

Instinct stirs the resting tigress
Watching now through slitted eyes
Something clicks inside her mind
She crouches down to watch her prize

Upstairs window, looking downward
I gaze in wonder at her stealth
Gone is now the loving kitty
Enter in the Tiger's Stripe

It could be fate, It could be nothing
That makes the robin take to wing
Alas, he chose the wrong direction
With feral grace the feline springs

Twisting, turning, reaching, flying
Acrobatics, claws, and teeth
Poor robin never knew what hit him
And Kitty has a bite to eat.

having cats I have seen this a time or two... well done, a fine feline piece... now if only they wouldn't leave the dead bird on the door mat as a present... write on
