selfshavings

By sIo

You you're a lot
Like dry rot
A dry socket so inept
To be a drag because
You can't stop suckin
em down that toothless
grin when you say
i told you so in fight
of its repercussions

lest we accept the
incoherence of
your back talk attitude
like bathroom gossip
on the back of your
hand you only listen
to repeat. you only
scribble to exclaim
what good are those
big eyes amidst those
tiny little tears

you couldn't cry yourself
a river were your thirst
a deadly sand

to wash away such filth
would take the world with
it. from ash to ash you
roam amongst no wolves
that call you family.
such the serpent doesn't slither
through mud it cannot
rinse. why ever would you
expect to find the fountain
of youth, anything but a
mirage to one such as you

don't even turn back now
there is not a place for you
to go. the skin you've shed
the trail is all but gone

grin forgetfully
and i'll rake you
across these coals
this scale of time
encompassing your
soul will not burn

but i can strip
the past if you remain
unknown

bone of bone take your
turns and leave you
yellow belly
cheshire cat and
serpent flicker

the coils are going
to break you
in this heat.
