Chalk Dust

By Lylani

Bright cold sun of a fall afternoon
That bids no warmth to lost souls
The crisp beauty of golden confetti
Falling from the memory of greener days
To be trampled by passers by
Or blown once more by the frivolity
Of the wind
Your words are lost to me
The beauty of a verse
Wiped from a blackboard
Now only half remembered
Chalk dust

I look on us
We must have loved
All those summers of our lives
But I can't quite catch the feeling
With empty kisses falling down
I glance up to your eyes
To find
Only
Chalk dust

I love the imagery that you used. Great poem. I just wish the second half was a bit longer, because I wanted more.
