Gone Dog Wild

I am a country-boy, been one all my life
I had me a son and I had me a wife.
But they died last year and I won't forget soon
How they died screaming beneath that awful moon.
I was hunting their killer, a year ago today
When suddenly it attacked me, much to my dismay.
Sinister staring eyes, long fangs and it stood upright
A hulking wolf of some kind, a most blood-curdling sight!

--The countryside's placid, the moon turns to cream
a life fades to black in one horrific death scene.
--I killed the beast that took my woman and child
and was left cursed by the devil, gone dog wild!

Now I am the wolf, all the town is my prey
You are the victim as my soul lies decayed.
Bred just for violence, nurtured by pain
Powered by moon-light, evil shall reign.
I'm not violent by nature, till nature comes calling
Then darkness breeds evil and the bodies start falling.
One week a month, the moon's silver screen
Transforms me into a killing machine.

my soul fades to black and I'm feeling mean.
--Tonight it's a woman, tomorrow a child
cursed by the devil, gone dog wild!

Run werewolf run, terrorize the countryside
Colors at midnight, with shades of homicide.
Run werewolf run, a silver moon on the crest
The townspeople are here to lay evil to rest.

I preyed once to often like sheep gone to slaughter
Last night was the last, the Mayor's only daughter.
Now I'm trapped in this shack, angered and alone
With my back to the wall, like a dog with a bone.
I see rifles and pitch-forks and no place to go
Surrounded by the townsmen, their torches aglow.
I charge into the night with the roar of the wind
The mountains echo loudly this country-boy's end!

my blood pools red and the wolf is but a dream.
--Tonight it was my turn, a death not mild
shot down like an animal gone dog wild.
