Whisper?

By Musik2MyEyes

I was sleeping...hiding...knowing when I awoke I would leave.
Finding peace in sleep...in knowing I was strong enough to go.
Softly melting in my courage.

I think I heard him whisper my name.
Did he?
Did he attempt to bring me from this peaceful slumber with a whisper?
Did he quietly call my name out to me?
Did he await the opening of my eyes?

My ears strain now...trying...to recall.
Frantically searching neurons for a buried memory.
Seeking a moment
That is reminiscent of a soft breeze.

A whisper
I thought I heard.
Was it in my dreams?
.
.
.

.
.
.
Alas
All I really ever hear
Are the echos
Of my own screams.

"He" was my ex. This is written about the night I was attacked during my sleep. Hope that clears it up for you.

Wow, that is so good! The ending was a perfect compliment to one of the best pieces I've read. Thank-you.

  • A former member wrote: Powerful conclusion... horrific. and I am completely entranced by your tragedy... it is going to consume my thoughts for many a moment... I keep getting pictures of Hannibal Lecter and Mason swinging and slicing himself apart.
