Thank You To The Soldier's

By Kittykat

I'm thankful for the soldier's
All the ones who keep me free
I can live my life the way I want
Because they fought for me.

I saw a picture in a book
Of a battle field and tanks
Those soldier's became my heros
To them I give my thanks.

I Live my life with freedom
Something more precious than gold
If they hadn't fought the war
All my possessions would be sold.

My lifeĀ could be much different
If our enemies won the war
Our soldiers risked their young lives
To keep them off our shores.

When we wear a poppy
On our coat or vest
It's there to remind us
Of every soldiersĀ courageous quest.

Not every soldier could come back
After defending all our homes
So many lay in Flanders' Field
A monument of bones.

Their families lost sons
Husbands, brothers and more
They gave their lives to keep us safe
Our freedom is what they fought for

So when you see a senior man
wearing metals on his breast
Try to imagine how he felt
Going to war, maybe to his death.

Next time you give a coin
And receive a poppy red
Remember what it really cost
To lay safely in your bed.
