Once upon a time

By Sin

Once I chased rainbows to their end

and talked to God on my pillow

I saw flowers bloom in impossible technicolors

while butterflies reigned majestic

Once I wished upon every star in the sky

and dreamed of walking the world in ballerina slippers

while princes hid on lilypads waiting for my kiss

Once my idea of joy was dressing in my mothers heels and pearls

my father was my hero who never failed to slay the dragon

and save me from my own imagination

Once I believed I could fly if I really tried

I ran everywhere I went just because I could

and no puddle went unsplashed

Once I thought love was walking into the sunset

with a happily-ever-after ending sealed with a kiss

and birds singing melodies in the background

Once upon a time

I saw the world through the innocence of a child's eyes

and it was beautiful

This was sweet. It reminded me of that innocence that I still wish I had. So lovely.

Beautifully written. A wonderful recollection of times forgotten and things taken for granted.
