Broke Down : Southwest Adams St.

               I look out amongst
       the rampitt concrete outcroppings
             of the city squalor

              I feel such agony
              as I gaze amongst
            the empty crack viles
              and the unopened
               yet disgaurded
            pieces of cellophane
                 and boxes

           Misery loves company
                  they say

I make my way to the corner
                for the usual
             two cups with milk

           there's this girl there
I imagine her draped in silk
            if only for a moment
                 I am taken

                 at first
             by her supple lips
           all dry and weather beaten

             its a cold and windy
               day in the city

then I gaze into her eyes
                 such pain
            pupils like pen nails
                 anemic
             discolored and gray
               dark circles
          need I say more

          that's what you get perdition
                broken promises
                 and dreams
               never fulfilled

                 the kids
            they play in alleyways

               amongst the refuse
              and vile eronomous
             collections of debris

                 I just wonder
could we set them all free ?

        from this hate filled existence

            so they can become

              something more

             than just another

                  beautiful

                   junkie

Yeah man. I don't know what to possibly say about this. If we treated the situation with love and understanding instead of disdain and isolation then maybe we could. Crushing.

  • A former member wrote: stunning imagery, and heartbreaking. to see with your minds eye and then be thrown back into the cruelty of reality. wanting to save people from themselves. lovely.
