Immemorial
By Scarrzz
A Great Golden Pendulum slices relentlessly through the emptiness
Carving its well worn path from this side of nothing
To that side of nothing
Tic . . . Toc . . . Tic . . . Toc . . . Tic
. . . Toc . . .
Time
That most precious of commodities
Means so little when there is no life to fill it
Tic . . . Toc . . . Tic . . . Toc . . . Tic
. . . Toc . . .
Still the inexorable march from side to side continues
Dragging me forward into the darkness of another night
Hazy memories of a brighter world begin to play
Across the flat affect of my face
Until I crush them with tiny spinning gears
Tic . . . Toc . . . Tic . . . Toc . . . Tic
. . . Toc . . .
I cannot feel my hands
They will not seem to release their grip on the past
The lesser points to Nine and the other points to Six
Unmoving
As the day began, so has the night fallen
Meaningless
Tic . . . Toc . . . Tic . . . Toc . . . Tic
. . . Toc . . .
I stand here resolute, with the appearance of relevance
Mocked by the never changing reflections
In my slowly beating heart
My innerworkings are wound and wounded
By Unconditional Love
From which there is but one release
And time itself will not suffice
Tic . . . Toc . . . Tic . . . Toc . . . Tic
. . . Toc . . .
Perhaps if there were some purpose to this broken edifice,
Some benefit to be gained by my lonely vigil
The numbness would become bearable
And my face might even smile
But the chimes no longer sing
Again, Meaningless
For there is no one to sing to
And the only one that would comprehend their gifts
Does not care to listen

Interesting.... see now I always pictured unconditional love as being eternal.... and I wouldn't say that is timeless, but rather something that is time itself... I guess in a spiritual sense, where time is all we are guaranteed... that and it's end....... hmmm. I think that one way to understand one's relation to his or her time... is the way they perceive it, or maybe the perspective they bring to it... does one look forward.... or does one look backward? Does one perspective hold sway over the other? Does one get lost in a series of nows without dwelling on the next or the last? Interesting stuff here mate.

Thanks again, I toyed with the idea of calling it, "Dragged Forward Looking Back."
