Dark Angel

You've taken me away
I'm lost to what I've known
And as i stare into your eyes
I can't move, I'm turned to stone

You lift me from my feet
I see a black tear roll down your cheek
There's no chance of safety
Maybe, that's why I feel so weak

I can feel the beat of your wings
Keeping an unheard tempo through the air
My life seems so insignificant
Moments like this, indiscriminately rare

Your evil's corrupted me
And this is what I've gained
I should disconnect myself from everything
Considering how much my life's been strained

There's no way to distinguish
Which one of us is to blame
I could ask you everyday
But the answer is still the same

It's your voice that does this to me
I heard you whisper; "Please"
And as soon as you set me down
I drop to my knees

We lay down side by side
In this field underneath the stars
My skin tells a thousand stories
One different for each of my scars

You were my care giver for so long
Until I died and you fell
And as I twist about in my Hell
Here you are now, my dark angel

When we rise to meet each other face to face
You wrap your arms around me
Protecting me with your cold flesh
I believe I can finally see

You've been sent to kill me
You're going to leave and it stings
And now as I kneel before you
I'm helpless as you open your wings
