Okay is Enough

I remember the way she screamed

Curse words to everyone in sight

They assured us she was attention seeking

But they carried her body out of the bathroom that night

A moment of silence the next day

Every girl in that home mourned the death

Of someone else, just like them

A girl lost in the system, hopeless with nothing left

I know I should have talked to her

Maybe she'd still be here

Or if someone opened their heart to this girl

Then maybe she wouldn't have been so scared

Isn't that what suicide is?

Is that what you do when you're scared to go on?

When your afraid this pain will last forever

Because it's already lingered much too long?

Does it help a depressed person

Who is contemplating their escape

If someone sits and talks to them

Is there a difference that this might make?

Do friends have an impact on someone threatening themselves?

How can I help someone in need?

Is it loneliness or anger, or self hatred

Or confusion or fear that makes someone leave?

I don't fully understand this concept

At times I have definitely had passing thoughts of giving up

But I search for something in this world that's just okay

Because sometimes, just okay is enough
