That was us

By Lylani

I could not call you beauty
More desire
Need
Gratification
Self destruction

But I loved you

In my way

It was my weakness
Combined with your kindness
Your determination to fix me
But you only saw my body broken
Not my soul

So you held me close
Your skin against mine
Your body in mine
Tried to piggy back me into your heaven

You cared in silence
I screamed in a thousand different voices
Only audible to the divine

So there we were
Inseparable
Incompatible

I should have stopped
Before we started
I knew you'd never see my fourth dimension
Or the colors of my soul

But your kindness was my weakness

Because I loved you
In my way

  • A former member wrote: such a beautiful poem. colorfully put together, and the imagery so intwined within the words to create a greater picture that is beyond beauty.

That's a painful position to be in. I have been there once. Nearly drove me mad. I like the way you express it here. Very straight forward and honest.

(I screamed in a thousand different voices Only audible to the divine) Wow, what beautiful haunting lines...It reads to me as though she is some form of immortal trapped in skin and bones herself. Love/the giving of herself being her only weakness/ her achilles heel...The interpritation of poetry such an individual personal thing. Thankyou, I loved it :-)
