Jezebel's Treasure
By lovechild
Peridots shimmer in Jezebel's eyes,
Making little rainbows dance around her as she cries.
Emerald leaves harbinger another summer,
throw a cloak of shadow on the doorway she stands under.
There was once a time when she wielded her beauty like a sword.
The hearts of men were harps; she could strum every chord.
Other women marveled at those green eyes, jealously.
their expressions ranged from red-hot rage to pale pink
impotency.
Envy is the green that glitters from her icy diamond heart-stone.
tears still turn to peridot when she cries in her chambers alone.
Age threatens like a winter storm when the north wind cools;
summer is her mirror, set with pretty little green teardrop jewels.

One of the best pieces I've seen in my short time here. Beautiful and full of color, love this.

Beautifully written. The rhyme didnt seem forced at all. The last line is stand out for me, delicate but strong in close.

This moves me like a symphony that is beautiful to the point of wretchedness and pain.
