M'lady, an Answer

By Henry Coldnight

We do not hear any echoes
for we are living in one,
one which Prince Charming
will never know,
for his armor will always be
shiny, and unused.

Through time,
underneath our simple outfit
is that suit of battle-worn armor;
within our wild eyes
we see honor and respect.

You speak of Fairy Tales
as if they weren't real;
whenever we see you smile
just like princesses in the fable,
protecting you till we die
is our happily ever after.

    Bravo and Second. This is the way it should be. To protect those he loves is any real man's deepest desire, and honor and respect should be his due. Scholar

    Loved it. It seems so simple in words. How do we make them see. Well done

    I'm honored by your response write. I love this, especially the last stanza. I wonder how we get back to this kind of courtly, honorable love...

    nice response work... battle worn, but honor and respect in those wild eyes - the center of a man, in the center of your write - says it all
