Devil's Math

By dark_sister

He said his middle name was Victor.
I asked him when he would see me.
He said when the three moons rise.
I asked him when the world would end.
He said when the azure beetle
spreads its wings and breathes fire.
I told him I want to live through it.
"Do you think I can?", I asked.
"You will one way or another," he said.

So much to unpack from such a small number of lines. Intriguing. I can't tell if that last line is haunting or hopeful and it makes me wonder who I would be coming out of the other side. Nicely done :)
