I Stood by You

By Lylani

When I first glimpsed your lost soul
You were a summer blossom
Caught in falls first frost
Your fragile petals
frozen
By the icy chill of summers loving end

I stood by
While you withered
Through rainstorms of tears

I wanted to be your sun
Break through your clouds of desperation
To caress your delicate leaves
With loving rays of desire
Teasing out of you a flourish
of petals
That would blossom forever
In the warmth of my touch

But as you grew you were captivated
By the fleeting lusts of fireflies

But I stood by you
Through the rising hopes of spring
And the burning heat of summer passions
Till the inevitable fall

I was the tree you grew beside
The one you leant on for support
That shielded you from bitter winds
of cruel words
Provided shade
when the sun burnt too strong

I became the wood
You couldn't see for the trees

But I loved you
The way your wondering fingers
Sought out new crevices of my mind
Slowly creeping up my bark

What sublime torture

As you wrapped your arms around me
(just as friends)
And squeezed ever tighter
Suffocating the life from me

So clung the ivy to the tree

What an exceptional piece. Talk about strength. It is so sad in its beauty. I love the way you use nature and its colours to paint the most beautiful of images...Truly impressed

All I can say is, I hope I meet someone like you one day. Really liked the work in it's on write but the message outshone even the skill of your writing. ~ Ash

good god, how cliche to say "get out of my head, stop living my life". I'm in awe, just from how amazingly I fit into this write by relation alone. And that ending line, to finish it off... Ivy covering a tree, as if embracing, but rather just climbing, suffocating, killing as it seeks to absorb all that is light for itself...
