Your place in my heart

By Lylani

The ache
The emptiness
The longing

Eventually fades
To a numbness
Like drizzle after a rainstorm
Fooling you that the worst has past
That the sun will soon shine through
Nurturing new life
Destroying the rot

But in the forest of my heart
In the clearing where we made love
The jasmine died with the moonlight
But a new day never dawned
In this void
Surrounded by high trees of knowledge
The light can never penetrate
To find this cursed ground
Where no life can be sustained

But lightning strikes
Images of you frozen in the strobe
Roses from nowhere bloom without petals
Their thorns caress my naked flesh
Carving intimate patterns of unfulfilled desire
I gasp for the numbness of the rains return
To turn fresh wounds to old scars

But I know with every passing moment
I am waiting for lightening to strike
Because I must feel what missing you is
It is my only way of loving you now

I cannot believe there are no comments on this. The imagery wields such light and dark. There are to many lines to quote and i would be doing an injustice picking just 1. It is a beautifully sorrowfull piece. OK so i lied. This line paints fragrance as well as imagery(The jasmine died with the moonlight) adore it
