To Woo a Shadow

By Mistress Shadow

You cannot give a shadow roses
for grasped in the dark hand,
they would fall to the floor.

And you can try to gently touch
the boundaries of lines wrought upon the wall
but the lines have been touched before.

You can attempt to conceive
a metaphysical kiss,
but no lips will cross the distance.

And yet, this shadow can be wooed,
through words and languages long lost before.
For what bliss sound may not travel across the abyss,
the mind can defuse through the barrier.
And where the mind does wander,
the heart can follow.

Ethereal. Your wordplay has crafted a moving picture of the spirit, the plane in which love exists as reality rather than thought. We are strange and wonderful creatures, made to span both of these planes. Thank you for that insightful and affecting depiction. Scholar

I've got my candle... Scholar
