going nowhere

By Taunting The Reaper

there are moments when
I feel the weight of my steps
to be
unbearable.
mobility becomes obscenity
and a destination
does not appeal to me.

I often wonder if I should move at all?
standing here next to you
is the only place I want to be.
it pains me to think
someone else
may find my footprints
in my absence.

to make matters worse
I fear they will find the trail I left
like glistening breadcrumbs
strewn around
as if they were the very pearls
I wrapped around your neck
now
fallen
and left for another
to find their way
back to the tender curves
of your neck;
a place where I dined like a king.
a place where I’d gladly die
like a pauper.

remember me
in the last pages of your dreams.
in your waking moments
right before a new sun
chases away the sound of my name.

but…
if you find gravity
to be a blessing
then stay right there
and go nowhere
with me.
