narcotics anonymous

By skully

I’ve been standing on the edge
Of all your fellowships
Don’t relish it
Just want to live
To see another dawn
Thrive in the sun
For just one more day

I’ve seen the cocky
Step nazi
Keen to gloat
Their sobriety
Swoop on newcomers
Though their scared
Still shaking

I awoke
To some
Of your games
Reverse snobbery
And junkie pride
My doc is heroin
Well done
Come on
How proud can we be?
Of dirty needles
And murderous dis-ease

But so it is
We come and go
Some don’t come
Back
Lost in smack
Why not though?
Spirituality you call it
I think
Fuck it for now
Think I’ll have one last drink.

If you want to hear another response to the institution of the 12 steps, read my poem called Anon Issue. It touches on some points that I think you might also relate to. I went to AA, but the BS remains the same. Scholar

find the group that works for you... or people in NA that do. not every NA group is the same, but there are people there with time and 5 min. clean, one hour clean is another step of time cleaner than you were. unlike some, don't judge an entire countrywide organization by a percentage... there are people there who want to help and understand... good luck to you

seeing as everything i happen to say basically comes under fire from all sides now it seems... do whatever your heart desires... aside from that... nice write, keep your passion and your voice strong and my the world bless you with all you long for...

  • A former member wrote: Oh the damn cult. Hello my name is dirty drug addict scum. I've done so much more drugs than you. let's brag. and sit outside getting giddy for the days when we freaked out and slid one in over again and again. you forget why you came untill you get to speak and utliize it. then you feel the forgiveness that god might have brought had you thougt of him first. I hate NA. It's a recruiting tool for Jesus freaks and control idiots who got a little too impotent from the drugs. The talking is good though. everything else is shit. Try S.O.S. Secular organization for sobriety. if the State/province your in hasn't made Twelve Steps, or twelve tribes, your rehab master. Bookmark. SMILEY :)
