Counting Sheep is Only a Guessing Game

By InsipidTouch

These wheels keep on churning as my heart keeps on burning
I'm scared to say even to this day that I may be in love
I dream of you and me together forever but that can't be
I hardly know you which is what makes me so blue
Confusion breaks down on me again leaving me lost and alone
This heart is racing, brain is pacing for something I should have known
Your wits and charm has won me over but there's still a little thing missing
Each night I look to the sky and almost cry out to the stars
"Where is the one to love and to hold? My body is dying and turning old"
But this night feels different as I lay between these sheets
Your presence still lingers next to mine as I hold you close one last time

I love the sense of awkwardness when you like someone but don't know why... perhaps it's infatuation... perhaps something more... hard to tell. Lovely work though.
