"state of mind"

By Grim_Sorrow

dim
dreary
distant
the reassuring words and
rhythmic flow
of what once was
and should have been
now lost to some vast region of in-discrepancy
I speak of hope
purpose
possibility
when in reality
it simply
fails to be
as far as me
I've come to understand
that
in spite of truth
focus
and honesty
I've yet to see
the path of which i speak
the so called "life" I'm suppose to lead
when one fails to see a solution
how wrong can he really be
for without answers
how can anyone
well off or otherwise
truly know purpose
be it blatant or indiscriminate
hidden amongst blank stares and monotonous gestures
lost on those less apt to questions life's failures
better still
it's desultory way of kicking you while your down
and in this
i feel we are failing
no longer willing to query as to why
but moreover
what brought about such inquisitive ideals to begin with
so here i stay
content in knowing that the only
"True knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing"
and in those words
9 simple words

I have my answer

This screams to me...it is branded in my heart. A poet has no idea when they display their thoughts and feelings into words the tremendous impact it can have on another...the simple reader. I give much praise to this piece as it feels as if without ever knowing I existed, you wrote this for me. I most sincerely thank you.
