Never did get the girls
Nor a thimble full of winged kisses
Blown for fear of shadows embrace

Real wishes were angel eyes to him
Soft hands to lift him from the rain
Where his shadow never trailed
For the pitter-patter shattered it’s existence

All he ever wanted was a goodnight kiss
To be tucked in and shoo the nightmares away
Prevent them from slipping
From their spider web dream catchers
Their shadow net diamonds
And breached water spouts

The boy who chased his shadow
Slept with teddy bear silhouettes
And glassless, blank picture frames
Because he lost his eyedentickle twin

Mirrored his existence
